Monument Geyser Basin is a small, mostly dormant thermal area reached by a steep trail near the Norris area of Yellowstone. The draw is less eruption activity than texture: old cone-shaped geyser formations, mineral ground, and a quieter look at the park's hydrothermal landscape. Go only if you are comfortable with a short but sharp climb and want a less crowded side trip.
