Mt. Everts rises near Mammoth Hot Springs in northern Yellowstone. The mountain is best known for Truman Everts, a member of the 1870 Washburn Expedition who became separated from his party and survived 37 days lost in the Yellowstone wilderness.
The mountain's layered sandstones and shales come from an inland sea that covered the area tens of millions of years ago. It is more of a landscape and history stop than a developed attraction, but the story gives the northern park scenery extra depth.
