The first of the Atlantic-facing beaches as you head north from Barra, fringing the residential neighbourhood of the same name. Ondina has decent surf, a long strip of beach barracas, and one of the better arenas for the Carnaval procession route — the trios elétricos pass directly behind the beach.
Less crowded than Porto da Barra and with more surf-and-volleyball energy. The clifftop hotels along Avenida Oceânica have rooftop bars worth visiting at sunset.
