A long, broad, open-Atlantic beach in the middle of the city's beach strip, with parking, beach barracas, and a wide promenade for joggers and skaters. Less photogenic than Porto da Barra but practical and easy to reach by bus along the coast road from the centre.
The water here is the colder open-ocean Atlantic rather than the warm bay; the swell is bigger, the swimming less safe, but the wind makes it a fixture for kitesurfers in season.
