A small public-facing visitor centre next to the Farol da Barra, run by Projeto Tamar, the Brazilian national sea-turtle conservation programme. Outdoor tanks hold rescued turtles awaiting release; indoor displays cover the five species that nest on the Bahian coast and the threats they face from longline fishing and beach lighting.
Modest in scale but well run. The entry fee goes directly to the conservation work, which has been credited with stabilising the loggerhead and hawksbill populations along the Bahia coast.
