Mirador Puma Uta

Hilltop park crowned by a stone puma, west of the city centre

A smaller hilltop park on the western side of Puno, with a large stone puma — the Puma Uta — at the top. The view is less sweeping than from the Kuntur Wasi side, but the climb is shorter and the steps are gentler. Worth a stop on the way back from a Plaza de Armas walk, or as a sunset alternative to the more famous condor viewpoint.

There are a few benches and grassy banks at the top where local families come at weekends. As with all altitude viewpoints in Puno, the air thins fast; take it slowly on the climb.
