Tiglachin Monument, often translated as Our Struggle, is one of Addis Ababa's most explicit pieces of Derg-era public art. Built in 1984, it commemorates Ethiopian and Cuban soldiers involved in the Ogaden War, with a tall central pillar, reliefs, and socialist-realist figures along Churchill Avenue.
The monument is politically loaded, and that is why it is worth seeing. It gives a visible reminder of a period that shaped modern Ethiopia but is not as easily read in the city's older imperial churches and museums.
