Housed in the 17th-century Dar el-Makhzen, the former sultanate palace at the top of the kasbah, this museum displays Moroccan arts and antiquities from prehistory through the Islamic period. Highlights include Roman mosaics, ornate firearms, ancient manuscripts, and Berber textiles. The building itself, with its painted cedar ceilings and tiled courtyards, is as much a draw as the collection. From the terrace you get sweeping views over the strait to Spain.
