Chunyang Palace

Historic Taoist palace and ancient architecture museum in central Taiyuan

Chunyang Palace, also called Luzu Temple, is a historic Taoist complex near Wuyi Square in Taiyuan. First built for the Taoist figure Lu Dongbin and heavily shaped by later Ming and Qing work, it now also functions as a museum of ancient architecture and stone carving.

The palace is valuable because it brings temple space, garden-like courtyards, and museum objects together in the middle of a busy provincial capital. It is a strong central Taiyuan stop before or after the larger excursions to Jinci and the Shanxi Museum.
