Bhaskareswar Temple is one of Bhubaneswar's more unusual Shaivite shrines. The temple is often dated to the Ganga period and is known for a large Shiva linga reached by stairs, giving the shrine a two-level arrangement that feels different from the city's more familiar Kalinga temple plan.
It is not as essential as Lingaraj or Mukteshwar, but it rewards travellers who are working through Bhubaneswar's temple landscape in some depth. The open setting and the scale of the linga make it memorable, and it is a useful stop for seeing how varied the city's sacred architecture can be.
