Chitrakarini Temple is one of the smaller temples scattered through old Bhubaneswar, and that is part of its charm. It has the vertical profile and carved stone language of the city's Kalinga temple architecture, but without the scale or crowds of Lingaraja and the better-known monuments.
Visit it as part of a slow walk through the temple district rather than as a single target. The reward is in comparing details: tower shape, stone carving, subsidiary shrines, and the way sacred architecture sits inside everyday neighbourhood life.
