Champakeswara Temple is one of the smaller Old Town shrines that makes Bhubaneswar rewarding beyond its headline temples. The 13th-century Shiva temple sits near Kotitirthesvara Lane, west of Parasuramesvara, with a laterite compound and a compact Kalinga form that is easier to study than the city's busier living shrines.
Come here as part of a slow walk through the temple quarter rather than as a single-purpose trip. The pleasure is in the details: the low precinct wall, the surviving subsidiary shrine fragments, and the sense that daily worship and deep architectural history still share the same narrow lanes.
