Jagat Shiromani Temple

Carved Hindu temple in Amer, quieter than the fort above it

Jagat Shiromani Temple sits in Amer below the fort, and it rewards the traveller who slows down before rushing back to Jaipur. The temple is known for its intricate stone carving, raised plinth, and a graceful mandapa that feels far more intimate than the palace courtyards up the hill.

It is a good add-on to an Amer visit because it shows a different side of the old capital: devotional, local, and still woven into the settlement. Come in the morning or late afternoon, when the carved surfaces catch the light and the lanes around the temple are at their most active.
