City Palace Textile Museum

Royal textile collection inside the City Palace, with extraordinary silk and hand-embroidered pieces

Address City Palace Complex, Jaleb Chowk, Jaipur
Opening Hours 9:30-17:00 daily

Part of the City Palace complex, the textile museum houses the former maharajas' collection of royal garments and fabrics — items that were actually worn by the rulers of Jaipur across four centuries. The collection includes hand-embroidered ceremonial robes, palanquin covers, tent walls, and miniature paintings depicting court dress, all in the intricate zardozi, ari, and phulkari embroidery traditions of Rajasthan.

The standout pieces are the enormous royal tents — elaborately embroidered and decorated, they were used by the Jaipur court on campaigns and ceremonial occasions, and their scale gives some sense of the logistical theater of Mughal and Rajput royal processions. Some pieces are centuries old and in remarkable condition.

Included in the City Palace admission, which makes it an easy addition to any palace visit. The textile collection tends to be less crowded than the main palace sections.
