Masjid Raya Sabilal Muhtadin is a large modern mosque completed in 1981 and one of Banjarmasin's main landmarks. Its name comes from a well-known work of Islamic jurisprudence by Sheikh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari, tying the building to South Kalimantan's religious history as well as its city skyline.
