Levant Restaurant

A solid mid-range restaurant on the First Circle serving the mezze-focused Levantine cooking that Amman does better than almost anywhere. The hummus is made fresh and eaten with warm flatbread; the kibbeh comes fried and raw (kibbeh nayyeh); the fattoush and tabbouleh are properly sharp with lemon. This is the reliable neighbourhood restaurant type rather than a destination in itself.

Good for a casual lunch before or after visiting the nearby Citadel and downtown. The staff speak enough English to navigate the menu without difficulty, and the prices are low. Look for it in the streets just below the First Circle roundabout.
