Reem is widely considered to serve the best shawarma in Amman — a strong claim in a city that takes its shawarma seriously. The shop is on Second Circle in Jabal Amman and has been there since the 1960s, serving chicken or meat shawarma wrapped in flatbread with garlic sauce, tomato, and parsley. The bread is toasted on the grill; the spit turns constantly; the queue is always there and always moves fast.
The shawarma here is made in the traditional Levantine style rather than the Gulf or Egyptian variants — leaner, more heavily spiced, with the garlic sauce playing a more central role. Eat standing up at the counter or take it away. Open from late morning to midnight.
