A traditional Kyrgyz cemetery on the southern outskirts of Bishkek, notable for its dense field of distinctive sky-blue painted dome tombs, miniature replicas of mosques, and the occasional small mausoleum. The dome motif is taken from the yurt and is repeated through Kyrgyz funerary architecture across the country.
Walking through quietly is permitted; the cemetery is most striking in late afternoon when the low sun lights the painted domes. Treat the site with respect — it remains an active burial ground.
