The State Russian Drama Theatre named for Chingiz Aitmatov continues to mount a regular Russian-language repertoire — Chekhov, Ostrovsky, Bulgakov, contemporary Russian plays, and Aitmatov adaptations. The theatre dates to 1935 and still has the small classical interior of a Soviet-era provincial drama house.
For Russian-speakers, an evening here is one of the more authentic cultural experiences in Bishkek. Tickets are very inexpensive.
