The Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo Ruiz — Binondo Church — has anchored the Chinese-Filipino quarter since the 1590s. Its octagonal bell tower and granite facade survived war and earthquake, and it remains the spiritual centre of Binondo, named for the first Filipino saint, who served here.
