Once a working fish market, Addiction Aquatic Development is now a glossy 7,500 m² seafood market and izakaya complex in the north of the city. The layout runs through a Japanese-style fishmonger, a standing sushi bar, a hot grill counter, a wine and oyster bar and a cooking-school space — all under one roof, all serving from the same daily auction.
The standing sushi bar is the highlight: the chef opposite you, sashimi cut to order from fish you can see iced in front of you, and an excellent sake list. Prices are middle-range by Taipei sushi standards, very good by the standards of comparable sushi in Tokyo. The market sections are good for take-home picnic supplies — sashimi platters, oysters on the half-shell, Hokkaido sea urchin in season. Open from 7am-12pm.
