A small weatherboard cottage on the edge of Battery Point, with a deceptively large back garden that includes an old yellow Hobart Metro bus converted into seating. The bar is locally famous for its outdoor space — open fires in winter, fairy lights and dogs in summer, a permanent crowd of locals and visitors. The drinks list is solid: Tasmanian beers on tap, a serviceable cocktail list, and a decent Tasmanian wine selection.
The food is pub-rustic: woodfired pizza, share plates, a few bigger dishes. Don't come expecting fine dining. Do come for a Friday-evening drink before walking into Salamanca for dinner. The bus is heated.
