Innsbruck's Armoury was built between 1500 and 1505 on the orders of Maximilian I, close to the city walls and the old Sill River crossing. The building was part of the Habsburg military system, storing weapons and equipment for the Tyrol at a time when Innsbruck was a serious imperial base.
Today it is a museum stop for travellers interested in Maximilian, city defences, and the less polished working side of Habsburg power.
