The Zeughaus, or Armoury, is part of the Tyrolean State Museums and sits a little east of Innsbruck's old centre. Built under Emperor Maximilian I, it once stored weapons and military equipment for the Habsburg frontier. Today it presents Tyrol's regional history through arms, maps, models, and exhibits on trade, conflict, and mountain life.
It is quieter than the Golden Roof or Hofburg, which is part of its appeal. The museum gives useful background for understanding Innsbruck as more than an alpine sports base: this was a strategic city controlling routes over the Brenner Pass, and the armoury makes that political geography visible.
