Rocher Bayard is the dramatic sliver of limestone split from the cliff at the southern approach to Dinant. The road squeezes between rock walls here, turning a simple arrival into one of the town's most memorable visual moments.
The name comes wrapped in legend, especially the story of Bayard, the magical horse said to have struck or leapt through the rock. Even without the tale, it is a neat introduction to Dinant's geography: river, cliff, and road all pressed into a narrow Meuse valley.
