The Basilica of the Holy Apostles is one of Cologne's Romanesque churches, notable for its cloverleaf-shaped choir and tall west tower. The present church preserves the scale and calm massing that make Cologne's Romanesque churches such a strong counterpoint to the cathedral.
Sightseeing is outside service times, and the church is close enough to the centre to combine with other Romanesque churches and museums on foot.
