The NS-Dokumentationszentrum occupies the former Cologne Gestapo headquarters and prison. It is now one of Germany's most important regional memorial museums for the victims of National Socialism.
The preserved prison cells are the hardest-hitting part of the visit, while the exhibitions, media stations, and library explain how Nazi rule worked in Cologne and the surrounding region. It is a serious, worthwhile stop a short walk from the old town.
