The Praetorium preserves the remains of the Roman governor's palace from the period when Cologne was capital of Germania Inferior. The site gives a rare look below the modern city into its Roman administrative core.
It is close to the Rathaus and works well with Cologne's other Roman sights, especially the Romano-Germanic Museum and the surviving city-wall fragments.
