Federal Administrative Court Building

Monumental former Reich Court building near Leipzig's music quarter.

The former Reichsgericht building is one of Leipzig's grandest imperial monuments, built for Germany's highest court and now used by the Federal Administrative Court. Its dome, staircases, and heavy historicist architecture project authority with no subtlety at all.

Even if you do not go inside, the exterior is worth seeing while walking between the city centre and the music quarter. It adds a legal and political chapter to Leipzig's better-known stories of trade, publishing, music, and protest.
