The National Theatre of Greece is a low, imposing late-19th-century building designed by Ernst Ziller and commissioned by King George I. Its eclectic facade is a good example of the grand public architecture Athens adopted after independence.
Most visitors see it from the outside while walking between Omonia, Psiri, and the museum district. Check the programme if you want the building to be more than an architectural stop.
