Perissa Beach is one of Santorini's long black-sand beaches, backed by tavernas, beach bars, and rows of summer sunbeds. The volcanic sand and pebbles give the shore its distinctive dark colour, especially striking against the bright Aegean water.
It is heavily developed in high season, so do not come expecting solitude. Outside the busiest months it is a useful, easy beach stop on the island's southeast coast.
