Vlychada Beach is one of Santorini's more striking black-sand beaches, backed by pale volcanic cliffs carved by wind into soft, sculpted forms. It has the drama of the island's better-known beaches without quite the same wall of commercial beach bars.
The beach is good for a slower day by the water, especially if you want space and a more elemental Santorini landscape. Parts of the far end are used by nude sunbathers, so choose your stretch accordingly.
