Church of Saint Mary Magdalene

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene was a medieval Franciscan church in Buda's Castle District. During Ottoman rule it was the main Christian church allowed to remain in use, but heavy damage during the Second World War left only fragments of the building standing.

The surviving tower and ruins are a useful stop for understanding how much of the Castle District has been rebuilt, restored, or left as a scar from Budapest's sieges and occupations.
