The Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute documents Hungarian stage history through photographs, recordings, manuscripts, prints, scenic material, models, costumes, and theatre ephemera. Its exhibitions are compact, but they give a specialist view of Budapest's performing arts culture.
The museum occupies a classicist building from around 1840 near the Castle District. It is a worthwhile side stop for visitors with an interest in theatre, design, or Hungarian cultural history.
