Ponte del Mare

The Ponte del Mare — Bridge of the Sea — is a pedestrian and cycle bridge crossing the mouth of the Pescara river where it meets the Adriatic. Completed in 2009, it is Pescara's most striking piece of modern infrastructure: a cable-stayed bridge with a single tall pylon and a sweeping asymmetric design that frames views of the sea, the port, and the coast in both directions.

It connects the city's north and south shores and has become the main point from which to photograph the seafront. Walk across it at dusk for the best light. The bridge also serves a practical function — it makes the Pineta Dannunziana forest accessible from the north side of the city without going far inland — but most people use it simply as a vantage point and a pleasant place to stand.
