Pescara's main draws are its long sandy beach, a handful of worthwhile museums, and easy access to the Abruzzo hinterland. The seafront promenade is the social spine of the city in summer; beyond it, the old quarter of Castellammare di Adriatico and the area around the d'Annunzio birthplace museum hold what little architectural heritage survived the war.
