Zattere is the long waterfront walk along the Giudecca Canal on the southern edge of Dorsoduro. It is one of Venice's best easy promenades: sunny, open to the water, and sheltered from cold northerly winds by the buildings behind it.
Pause opposite the squero near San Trovaso, one of the few working gondola yards left in Venice. If the doors are open, you may see gondolas in different stages of repair or construction.
