Juliet's Tomb

Atmospheric former convent site tied to Verona’s Romeo and Juliet mythology.

Juliet’s Tomb is one of Verona’s quieter Shakespeare-linked sites, set in the former convent of San Francesco al Corso rather than in the crush around Juliet’s House. The sarcophagus itself is a piece of literary pilgrimage more than hard history, but that is true of much of Verona’s Romeo and Juliet trail.

The appeal is the mood: cloisters, brick, a little theatrical melancholy, and fewer elbows than the famous balcony courtyard. Visit if you are following the city’s layered mix of Roman ruins, medieval streets, and invented romance, but keep your expectations tuned to atmosphere rather than authenticity.
