Verona's largest church and a Gothic masterpiece, begun in 1290 and largely completed by the late 15th century. The interior is wide, light-filled, and decorated with frescoes by pupils of Giotto. The sacristy contains Pisanello's fresco of St George and the Princess (c.1433–38), considered one of the finest examples of International Gothic painting in Italy. Two stone hunchbacks (gobbi) bearing holy water stoups flank the nave.
