The Church of St Francis Xavier closes one side of Kaunas Town Hall Square with a confident Baroque facade. Built by the Jesuits, it belongs to the dense historic core where churches, merchant houses, and civic buildings stand almost shoulder to shoulder.
The church is easy to visit while wandering the old town, and its position gives it more impact than its size alone would suggest. Step inside if it is open, but even the exterior helps frame one of Kaunas' most satisfying urban spaces.
