Built in the mid-14th century at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers, this was one of Lithuania's key defensive positions against the Teutonic Knights. Only a section of wall and a round tower survive, but archaeological excavations are ongoing and the site is being gradually restored. The setting between the two rivers is the real draw.
