Ružinov is Bratislava's largest borough, stretching east from the old town along both banks of the Malý Dunaj (Small Danube) river. It's a mixed district — partly older housing from the interwar period, partly communist-era panel buildings, and increasingly home to new residential and commercial development. The Ružinovské jazero lake is the main attraction for visitors.
The district has good transport connections to the centre (trams 2, 7, and 9 all serve Ružinov) and a range of neighbourhood restaurants and cafes. The Eurovea shopping centre and riverside development on the Danube edge of Ružinov is one of the city's newer commercial districts.
Ružinov is where much of Bratislava's young professional population lives — rents are lower than in Staré Mesto and the housing stock is varied. The neighbourhood cafes and wine bars are generally reliable and uncrowded.
