Aminona

Aminona is the easternmost village in the Crans-Montana resort area, sitting at around 1,500 metres and connected to the rest of the plateau by road and free shuttle bus. It was developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a self-contained ski complex, and its architecture reflects that era — large concrete apartment blocks arranged around a central gondola station, with none of the chalet character of Montana or the boutique density of Crans.

What Aminona offers is directness: the gondola from the village base station rises quickly to the top of the Aminona sector, with access to some of the most challenging terrain in the resort including the black runs of the Tza Nava area and the off-piste bowl above. The village itself is quiet out of season and never gets the crowds of the main resort. A small shopping strip and a handful of restaurants serve the immediate population. For those who prioritise skiing over resort ambience, Aminona's position is efficient.

A story
Aminona is the quietest and most easterly of the resort's villages, built in the late 1960s as a purpose-built ski apartment complex and still looking like one. But it has the advantage of sitting directly under the Aminona gondola — the fastest route to the high terrain — and property prices here are noticeably lower than in Crans or Montana.
