Lac de la Moubra

Lac de la Moubra is the largest natural lake on the Crans-Montana plateau, sitting at 1,424 metres above sea level. The lake stretches about 11 hectares and is surrounded by pine forest and open alpine meadow. In summer it serves as the social centre of outdoor life in the resort — a designated swimming area on the northern shore draws a regular crowd of families and sunbathers, and the calm water is popular with paddleboards and canoes.

A marked walking path circles the entire lake, taking about 45 minutes at a leisurely pace. The southern shore is designated as a nature reserve protecting nesting waterbirds, so that section is fenced off but visible from the path. The reflection of the Weisshorn and the surrounding ridges in the still morning water is one of the best free views on the plateau. In winter the lake sometimes freezes enough for skating, though this is not guaranteed every year.
