Bella Lui

Bella Lui is the main mid-mountain peak in the Crans-Montana ski area, reached by gondola from Montana to the Cry d'Er station and then by the Toula chairlift or on foot in summer. The summit sits at 2,543 metres and commands an exceptional south-facing panorama across the Rhône Valley to the Italian Alps, while to the north the great peaks of the Bernese Oberland — the Finsteraarhorn, the Mönch, the Jungfrau — fill the horizon.

In winter, the Bella Lui sector provides some of the resort's most reliable off-piste terrain and the runs back down to Montana are long, varied, and well-oriented for morning sun. In summer, the summit is the midpoint of a popular ridge walk that continues to the Cry d'Er plateau. The mountain restaurant at Bella Lui (1,965 m) is one of the most reliably good on-mountain lunch spots in the resort, with an open terrace that fills up on sunny days. The restaurant also operates as a youth hostel, which means hikers can overnight here at a reasonable price.

A story
At 2,543 metres, Bella Lui is the central high point of the Crans-Montana ski area and one of the best viewpoints in the Swiss Alps accessible by lift. The panorama from the summit takes in 82 named peaks, from Mont Blanc in France to the Bernese Oberland giants, and the 360-degree view is clear enough on good days to pick out individual glaciers.
