Lac d'Icogne is a quiet reservoir sitting on the lower western edge of the Crans-Montana plateau, within the municipality of Lens. It sits at around 1,400 metres and is accessible by foot from the Crans village end of the resort — the walk down to it takes about 20 minutes. The reservoir supplies water to the communities below and swimming is not permitted, but the walking path that circles the upper side offers pleasant views across the lower Rhône Valley toward the mountains of the Valais central spine.
The area around the lake is used for mushroom picking in autumn, when ceps and chanterelles are found in the larch and pine forest above the waterline. The trail connects to the broader plateau network and makes a good extension to the standard lakeside walk that most visitors do between Lac de la Moubra and Étang Long.
