Bernardine Church and Monastery

The Bernardine Church and Monastery stands just southeast of Lviv's old town, where the medieval walls once met the Hlynyany Gate. The complex grew from a fortified monastery, and its church was rebuilt in stone in the 17th century with a rich baroque facade.

It is one of the strongest church stops outside the immediate Rynok Square circuit. The exterior still reads as part shrine, part defensive edge of the old city, and the surrounding walls help you understand how tightly packed historic Lviv once was.
