Lviv Town Hall rises from the middle of Rynok Square, exactly where a city like Lviv wants its civic landmark to be. The present brick building dates from the 1830s, but the real draw for visitors is the tower: a long climb up through the building to one of the best views over the old town.
From the top, the square's merchant houses, church towers, courtyards, and tight streets make much more sense. Go early or late if you want the view with fewer people on the stairs.
