Castlefield

Roman fort ruins, Victorian canals, and waterside bars

Address Castlefield, Manchester M3 4LZ

Manchester's original settlement, named after a Roman fort whose foundations are still visible. Today it is an urban heritage park where Victorian canal bridges, red-brick warehouses, and cast-iron railway viaducts sit alongside waterside bars and the Museum of Science and Industry. A good place for an afternoon walk.
