The Whitworth is the University of Manchester's art gallery, set on the edge of Whitworth Park. Its collection is strong on modern art, watercolours, prints, textiles, and wallpapers, giving it a different feel from Manchester Art Gallery in the city centre.
It is worth the short trip south if you like design, works on paper, or quieter galleries with serious collections.
